Mike Baird is the Chief Executive Officer of the Susan McKinnon Foundation, where he is committed to advancing Australia’s public administration, enhancing political leadership, and fortifying democratic institutions. With a distinguished background that bridges public service and corporate leadership, Mike brings a depth of experience to this role, shaped by decades in politics, banking, and the not-for-profit sector. His work today reflects a consistent throughline in his career—strengthening systems and structures that serve the public good.
Previously, Mike served as CEO of HammondCare during a pivotal era for aged care in Australia, guiding the organization through the challenges of COVID-19, the Aged Care Royal Commission, and national workforce shortages. His leadership helped secure improved sector funding, increased wages, and greater transparency, while championing innovation and a cultural shift in how older Australians are supported. Earlier, as Premier of New South Wales and Treasurer, he oversaw transformative infrastructure programs and strong economic growth. He also held senior roles at National Australia Bank, Deutsche Bank, and HSBC, and currently serves as Chair of Cricket Australia and the McKinnon Institute, among other board and ambassador roles.
Mike brings valuable insight from both the public and private sectors to the Advisory Panel, coupled with a deep commitment to civic engagement and leadership.
